Connect Claude Desktop, Claude Code or another client that supports local MCP servers. Ask which invoices are overdue, explore a project’s expenses or look up time entries. The assistant uses your connected Beeswax records to answer, with access limited to the account and permissions you give it.

With the appropriate write permissions, an assistant can create and edit quotes, invoices and expenses, work on project documents and prepare manual journals. Draft financial documents remain outside the ledger until finalised. Sending quotes to clients stays in the Beeswax web app.

MOVING FROM XERO
Use Beeswax’s Xero import wizard to preview and import bank, income and expense accounts, contacts and products. Transaction history, opening balances and unpaid documents need a separately agreed transfer approach; that wizard does not import them. A connected assistant can help inspect Beeswax records and compare them with source reports you provide. The current Beeswax MCP server does not start the import wizard.

FOLLOW THE NUMBERS
The MCP tools can read reconciliation periods, inspect statement status and find possible duplicate payments. With write access, they can upload statements and record matches. An assistant can help investigate differences and explain its findings; you review the evidence before relying on the result.

COME TAX TIME
For Australian accounts, an assistant with tax-return write permission can start a company or sole trader return, fill it in from your books, run the pre-flight check and leave notes on any figure worth a second look. Its changes show as manual edits and its notes are marked as coming from the assistant. Finalising is a separate step, and Beeswax does not lodge the return: that stays with you or your tax agent. Tax returns are in beta.

Start with read permissions for questions and investigation. Add specific write permissions when you want the assistant to make changes. Each token belongs to one Beeswax account and can be revoked in Account Settings. Your assistant’s own connection support and approval behaviour also apply.
